General Data Protection Regulation:
Please be advised General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will came into force as of 25 May 2018. It is legislation that is designed to harmonise data privacy laws across Europe as well as give rights to individuals.
As your Accountants and Tax advisors, “Savvy” has a duty to inform you of how your data is sufficiently used and kept.
What Information We May Hold:
- Full name
- Address/Contact details
- NIC number
- Date of Birth
- Salary rate/scale/annual salary
- Pension provider
How We Collect Information About You:
- Information is obtained via meetings, telephone conversations and emails upon engagement and throughout our appointment.
- We may also collect information from HMRC and if relevant, companies house to assist with our appointment.
What We Use Your Information For:
- Accountancy services such as Tax returns, VAT, Self-Assessment, Payroll Services and Secretarial Services
Systems Used To Store Your Data:
- Email System (encrypted emails)
- Sage Accounts and Sage Payroll
- Encrypted Shared Files
- TaxCalc
- Microsoft
- Data server
Who We Pass Information To:
- HM Revenue and Customs
- Companies House
Who Has Access To This Information:
- The staff and sub-contractors used by Savvy Tax and Accountancy Services Limited
Your Rights:
Under the Data Protection Act (1998) you have the following rights:
- To obtain access to, and copies of, the personal information that we hold about you;
- To require that we cease processing your personal information if the processing is causing you damage or distress;
Once the GDPR comes into force you will have the following rights:
- To require us to erase your personal information;
- To require us to restrict or object to our data processing activities
- To receive from us the personal information we hold about you which you have provided us, in a reasonable format specified by you, including for the purpose of you transmitting that personal information to another data controller;
- To require us to correct the personal information we hold about you if it is incorrect
Please note that these rights may be limited by data protection legislation, and we may be entitled to refuse requests where exceptions apply.

DISENGAGEMENT
If we no longer act for you, we may still have your accounting records held in secure storage. Accounting records will be held for up to six years by law and when this date passes it will be professionally destroyed. If you wish to collect your records please contact the office and we will arrange this for you.
